After several washings the water no longer runs off, but just soaks through to the surface below, leaving it wet. I have paper towels that do a better job of drying items. These towels are very nice. Perfect size, and they wash well, too. Love the cheerful color...I chose yellow.
The only downside was all the little plastic things you need to cut off that hold each towel together. It was difficult removing them without pulling/snagging threads in the process. There were way too many of them.
